my H2B (C) is still on its original crank.
it does worry me when im thrashing it (I.E. following higgsy over the mountain! ) that its going to go BANG and total the engine?
should i replace it after 35 years or do i leave well alone?
the bike has done 12500 miles
good point simon,in fact yet another new crank has just failed after 400 miles for yet another club member!
this crank was done by one of the "big" names and its the first failure i have heard from him?
he has taken the crank back and after examination the "dealer has said he wont replace it as "dirty" two stoke oil and "dirty" engine oil was used!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
big ends have gone
HIGGSPEED wrote:what was Hutchy doing at Onchan head on your bike with his race leathers on??
it was on the marine drive.
he was right at the end "testing" his race bike on the open road
we asked him if we could get a picture of him on the H2 for the front cover of our magazine.
he was very reluctant as he was contracted to honda till we told him we were only a small specialist club.
he said, "ow it should be alright then"!
top bloke!

Dirty engine oil? The only engine oil a triple has is in the gearbox and that would not get to the crank at all.
Two stroke oil is spent, mostly burned, and some discharged, so it would always be fresh from the bottle when topping up the tank. How could it ever be dirty?
The dealer is pulling a fast one if you ask me....!!!
