The plan is to get it up and running within the next week or so, a number of tasks need dealing with, Keith 500 is, (once again) not too far away and is being a great help.
The bike is just about 'all there' so will provide a good basis for a restoration
Next job is to get the carbs off to 'check them out'
Yep, the bike is basically all there, and its nice and original with a little over 10,000 on the clock, matching frame and engine numbers too.
Theres a few items missing and I'll be posting a begging list shortly....for starters I could do with a turn signal relay 27002-011
Kickstart bolt 92001-110---there will be more to follow
Carbs have now been removed, they were in a bit of a state but have now been cleaned, and are ready for re-installing.
As far as I'm aware the carbs haven't been swapped around as the thumb adjusters are on the centre and right carbs, as the picture shows, but I'm open to advice from the experts, and stand to be corrected guys
The plan is to get the bike up and running over the next couple of weeks, and get a few miles in before the weather gets back to normal.
And Bri, you are right the bowl gaskets need renewing (how did you know that
the left carb in pic, is right carb when sat on bike with vacuum hole and should have the bigger screw adjuster in, the small adjuster is on the left carb, outside,
Rog, the right and centre carbs should have the thumbwheels because you can't get to them easy with a screwdriver the left one should have the normal screwdriver slot head because it sits on the outside with easy access. In your pic they are on the wrong way round, the right one is the one on the left because the pic is looking rearwards if they were on the bike, the right one also has the vac' take off for the fuel tap so that is correct on your pic
So to cut to the chase, just swap the screw and thumbwheel on the outer ones round. Why did'nt I say that to start with???
Thanks very much guys, I appreciate the advice, if I don't know summat I will always ask, its the way to learn, and what better place to learn than on here
Here is another picture showing the carbs 'down the throat' and this is the order that they came off the bike
Cheers Big H, I have checked that part number and its the oblong type, the original is round, although it will do the job..I had already contacted my dealer mate about the 27002-011 number, he said "yep I can get ya one of those for £36" so I gave it a miss
hehe,
theres still somat not right, presuming the above pic is how they fit on the bike?, the outside carbs dont have the overflows showing like that, you need to juggle em' around a bit more to get the overflows on the inside,,
Put them back as they were just swap the adjusters over are you sure its not a B with C tank and seat
If you need parts from Allen's and cant get through ring me its only up the road
i now know some things i thaught i did not know yesterday

Cheers Carl will let ya know about the parts from Allens I'll ring ya.
And no, its not a 'B' with 'C' bodywork, frame and engine numbers both commence with 43 and H2C numbers start H2E 42827 and H2F 42547 Engine and Frame respectively..good call though

It shouldn't have/wouldn't have originally....at least thats what I'm told , the two carbs that are difficult to reach/tamper with should have thumbwheels. The outer carb, which is easily accesible, has no thumbwheel, so it can't be tampered with by any passing hooligan
Dave e wrote:I went and had a look at my H2c. The right hand carb and the middle one have thumbwheels with the left hand one having the slotted screw. I am sure this is correct with the overflow pipes all on the inside and seeing it was RB's own bike it's got to be right
